We have been seeking approval to expand for the past three years, and now we are seeing our long-term expectations become reality as we have reached and exceeded current capacity at nearly every facility.

Expanding Services: The need is growing and our goal is to increase our opportunities to serve by potentially doubling our capacity!
Improving Quality: The current new facility will be more efficient and combine services for single adults.
Making History: The Mission has stepped forward to serve wherever the need is since it was founded in 1911. From a soup kitchen in the Great Depression to a drop-in center in 2019. By joining us, you become a part of a legacy of service that spans more than a century in Michigan's capital area.
This project will initially increase services in our men's ministry, with future potential to facilitate single women. This would allow us to eventually increase services for women and children as well, at our current women and children's shelter.
We recently purchased 415 and 421 W. Kalamazoo, which is closer to downtown and several areas of greatest need in our community.
With the purchse the two properties on West Kalamazoo, we will need to renovate the facilities to include dorm rooms, offices, a warming kitchen, and cafeteria. We will also create a significantly sized addition to secure and combine the two office buildings; this addition will also have state-of-the art bathroom and shower facilities to accommodate hundreds of individuals. Current estimates are $9.6 millions dollars for the purchase of the two buildings, interior and exterior demolition, renovation, and the new addition. The project will be completed in two phases.
We will be completed the project in two phases. We plan to begin construction on the new addition and renovation of 415, as part of the first phase, in the summer of 2024. We hope to have this completed by spring of 2025. Then, we will begin raising funds for the second phase.
This is an ambitious project but much needed. Monetary donations will enable us to begin meeting needs that are already growing in our community.
